Today marked the official release of Walk In Da Park, the highly anticipated debut album by UK Phenomenon Giggs.
The album which reflects the streets and the life of Giggs, has an underground feel but caters to young and old, male and female alike re-writ all the rules in UK Hip-Hop when it sold out on its first day of release. Fans were left upset and some even angry when told that the album was no longer in stock after they had queued for hours outside HMV and other Independent music retail stores.
At 9.30am in HMV there were reported fights between fans determined to get there hands on one of the last copies of the album. Giggs' management has released a statement to fans informing them that more copies of the album Walk In Da Park will be available by the middle of this week.
After having a mad conversation… I mean debate … I mean argument, with my fellow Tribers about the best mc`s/rappers in the UK over the weekend, I know what they think.

im sorry but im not feelin this. his flow is too stiff for my liking. whats the song even about? random unfocused bars... UK needs to step their game up for reeeeal.
i am not hating, its just not my thing. video is generic: friends standing in background wearing black, skidding motorbikes, dogs etc. cliché cliché cliché...
yawn!
UMMMMMM!!!
NEXT!
Jheeezzz! "Ummmmm"...I still don't get the hype around him. I get the idea that Giggs' PR people are exaggerating a little - fighting outside HMV?! I can't imagine anyone over 16 even arguing about Giggs let alone throwin punches.
I like him, don't think he will blow though.
I remember you defended his case in our 'friendly debate' on saturday. I thought Mr. W was gonna lay you out Vis. The debate was heart-felt.
swag
Walk In Da Park? Why?
fights to buy it, man this is weak music. he shouldnt even give it away!
WEAAAAAK
I DONT GET THE HYPE
you lot dont get the hype? maybe because you cant relate to what he is talking about!
nothing beats a naked jog
"Got the whole club snorting my charlie.."
Bet the haters from ATCN dont like his product but love his product .. all da girls standing in the line for the bathroom you know who you are!
give it 3 months and you'll forget u even remembered his name...
Not sure i get the Giggs thing but I am testament to his impact on road.
Every MC in grime is calling his name, everytime Talkin the Hardest or Umm gets played people go mad.
Check the video footage on Westwood TV at Sound Leicester Square - The kids love it.
You lot aint ready for the guy your still on the US Hip hop thing be real...
Can you lot not rate your uk folk?
first kase now hollowman?
Everyone has their own views i suppose.
I dont even like hip hop i did once, this guy has restored my faith i've seen the light lol...
I don't understand - if people voice their opinions on here about a particular artist and the general consensus is less than favourable then why are they automatically seen as haters? Do all UK rappers have be supported just because they're from the UK?
And why is it that most posters saying that ATCN readers are haters generally post as anonymous!?
I know I'm too old to really "get" Giggs stuff myself but surely everyone's entitled to their opinions both good or bad as the case may be?
@ JP, regarding what you say about being on the "US thing", I hear you but (to be really honest) I come from a slightly different era so I guess personally I feel US Hiphop more. That DOESN'T mean I don't check for any UK MC's though!

av a word with your self mate!
im pretty sure positvie stuff has been said about uk mcs on here.
are you choosing to remember only two posts out of a few hundred?
im not with the giggs thing not becos i hate uk muzik but becos he is shit.
i been reading for a while now and you lot are unbiased so like the post asks what do i think?
no swagga just dull, droll with zero actual mc ability.
this guy is pants, how anyone is giving him play time is beyond me.
With all thats going on in our town at the mo the last thing we need is another jumped up 16 year old talking shit. seriously.
plus he flow is waste. sounds like he needs a shit.
EVEN BLOGGING HIS NAME IS WASTE
Clav. Speaking the truth again.
Every joint that gets released, I get more turned off by grime. Its all been said and done before and I cant name one UK artist that is doing something special within it.
In my opinion Giggs is the truth. If not Giggs what UK rappers do you like?
I think Sway is very, very good, I also like Durrty Doogz (even though I haven't anything from him for a while but that "Keep Up" track he did was fire!), J2K's pretty cool... Oh, and I gotta mention Bashy!
I'm not saying my taste in any way reflects what's hot on the scene right now, truth is I don't really know what IS the hottest thing (like I said, I'm from a slightly older generation), all I know is I'd rather listen to ANY of those mentioned above before Giggs, no disrespect to him.
Having heard his stuff, first reaction is - where's the energy? The delivery leaves me a little, well... cold.
It doesnt matter what country their from, opinions are opinions it's not a bad thing if someone is not feelin' it, personally I think he's a bit too much like the Dipset which Im not into, but all the same it's good to see UK guys gettin' there shine and havin' a bit of a following, listen people hate on the charts as commercial (fair enough) but the more commercial success people like Dizzie, Wiley, etc have the more doors are going to be opened and things can only grow!
i think thats a fantastic question can anyone name 5 top uk rappers??
(not mc's but rappers)
GIGGS' is as real as it gets, no suga coating shit, i LUVS it!!!!
... tho i dont like the lyric about half the club "snorting my charlie", if hes gonna blow, he needs to put lyrics like that to bed
...JEEZ!!
Oh come on! Giggs is not claiming to be the best rapper is he? He`s just making music about his life for people that can relate to his way of life. Surely you can appreciate the impact he has made in what is almost an impossible industry for urban acts to crack. HATERS!! LOL
although i can relate to giggs on a street level for me its just another uk rapper with a lack of personality and charisma!
Giggs (why steal a brilliant footballer's name to begin with? Silly fool) is shit. "UK Jeezy", my arse. Ticks all the boxes of cliches. We'll all have forgotten him before the new football season starts. Ace/Vis, whoever posted this, just don't do it again. A waste of time, type and space.
The way I see Giggs is he's part of a movement that was given credit for the first time in ages what with Estelle, T2, Wiley and Dizzee topping the charts; I'm not taking anything away from him personally but there's an now an opportunity for urban (God, I hate using that term!) acts that hasn't really been around since the So Solid Crew days...
So his timing is real good right now, coming just as black artists are getting taken "seriously" again. Record labels are like sheep - once an act goes through, everyone else in the black scene gets paid more attention, even if they're not necessarily seen as "the best". Note this applies to ALL black music in the UK, it's not gerne specific as such.
I'm just not so sure he'd have the same heat if he'd released this a year ago but props where probs due.
PECKNAM STAND UP
I'd rather listen to this ALL DAY every day over Giggs, okaaaay!!!

wat folks are not gettin is that no matter if his flow is horrible or concepts poor etc he's talkin that real gritty ldn ish.. this is shit we aint rly heard b4! wat we can relate to!
misch
SAME CONSTANT FLOW
NO VARITATION IN HIS VOICE
HE JUST DONT EXCITE ME AND IM TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATTION HE DONT REALTE TO ME
@ anon 02:57
i think that theres a few that you left off the list! but your knowledge of the scene is very impressive! (should attach your name to it next time)
Uk stand up!!!!!!!!!!!!
Heard this guy on 1xtra over the weekend and all ive got to say is 'BORING'
Talking the hardest is massive but as an allround entertainer i dont think giggs has what it takes. a serious lack of personality for my liking! another dizze/ kano/ strider = no charisma!
Sick of UK mc's (if you can call half of them that) with too much hype!!! Boring!
we had this convo the other day....
i think giggs is good, and whether he blows will be down to how diverse he can be.....
G.K, as for our 'friendly debate' on saturday, im still not backing down on the luda/lil wayne thing.......
Does anyone remember that chubby white bloke called ozmosis, that was smeared all over channel U last year? Flattest delivery i've ever heard, but those lyrics really got to me. 10 minutes later, the worst video my eyes have ever witnessed, "Rowdy Ts'-What they want" came on, beginning with a drive-by in a peugeot and lyrics about throwing your dick to the dogs. In the space of 15 minutes, my perception of UK music dive-bombed and ive never tuned into 360 again. Im a better person for that. You should try it.
Soz. I wasnt logged in and dont know to delete it when your anonymous (Cue bobby v wailing)
Personally I've stayed away due to lyrical content and until tonight, I've never had a request for him... then the flood gates opened for no reason tonight.
He's hot and I can see the apppeal (he's a UK Young Jeezy/Juelz Santana) but his subject matter doesn't sit well with me.
I know HipHop is the CNN of the streets but my question to the ATCN crew is as follows:
Is he glorifying those things that are wrong with UK streets?
...or merely commenting on them?
I cant relate with him, but I say swim Giggs - Swim. I likey!
Theres some good stuff on his mixtapes around....he is blowing up in the streets amoung the hood types and hustlers but does anyone else think he sounds like Mike GLC??? hmmmmm.......?
People saying he is swag and shit etc etc, This is 1 song you have played he has plenty more for differnt type of life don't judge him on 1 song judge him on other songs go to google and type giggs wlak in da park and look for raised me up you will not be let down trust me.
Don't hate someone that speaks the truth.
The one thing Vis,that Gigs has over other MC's is he's got a signature MC style, Which your either gonna warm to or not. Just like Lil Wayne your either gonna be into his style of MCin or not.
I think only time will tell if he will be around in a few years times. I really hope that his team advise him how to take things further reach out to a wider audience, as most of the time an artist careers are not lost by themselves, it's lost by the the team around them.
Certain ppl are hating i fink dis is good stuff and he's leading the way for uk rap, he comes harder on mix tapes but he made his album diversify to carte a lot of people. And hes been doing dis since like 2004 wid sn1 n otb handing out mix tapes let my man enjoy he fame but he is kicking in da door 4 UK rap, we cant listen to grime wer 2 old now. Plus i hear ppl sayin he 2 violent fair enuf but jus d otha day ppl wer chasd where i live and sum1 innocent got shot so he spits wat he sees.UMmm
GIGGS - I HOPE YOU WIN THE B.E.T AWARD AND REWARD BY MAKING EVEN BETTER MUSIC
For a start- he will never be as big as he is now because he doesn't have any other flow, 2) he uses the same fuking deadoutrhyme scheme the whole way through the song 3) ur ryt i cant relate because their is nothing to relate to, ghetto is far better, 4) thank you to the guy who sed its all cliche bcoz that is exactly what it is 5) why have they printed random bars of his onto £2 shirts, GET FUKING REAL PLZZZ
big up giggs come a long way from moving up that foldi back in the days (he knows what i mean) keep it up bro peace
why do you lot hate on people who are trying to make things work for them, funny thing is bet most of the haters on here are black and dont wanna see another brother on top.. ok so you have your own views on his style, that's all good but the ones saying shit that's not necessary need fix up.. big up giggs ayo foldi lmao
I for one, am Black and, yeah, I'm critical of music coming out ESPECIALLY from Black folks. I'm not speaking of this dude, because I've never listened to his stuff, but in general, the Black artists and actors pushed on us are reppin sheer buffoonary. You better believe I'm the first in line to support talented artists who are about something. And there's plenty of them, which makes me all the more critical of the talentless idiots frequently being supported and marketed.
giggs is the hardest no matter wht u lot say if giggs can see this he needs to thank dirty saj cuzzy sn1 pecknarm 2 wooly certified g's
