This month my number one girl-crush Cassie covers Complex magazine and, as you can see above, the resulting image leaves extremely little to the imagination.
Granted, the woman can rock a black lamé swimsuit better than 99.999% of the world's population, but there's something about this photo that makes me want to wrap her up in a blanket and feed her tea and toast. Fierce-as-fuck facial expression aside, the girl looks so damn vulnerable.
We all know that Cassie is not the strongest vocal talent to grace the music industry, but does that really mean she should strip off and pose as a dominatrix to boost her career? Do the words 'less is more' have any significance in today's media, or are shock tactics the only way for female artists to get guaranteed press attention? Or am I just being a complete Grandma about the whole thing, and really it's me that needs to settle down with some tea, toast and a nice episode of the Antiques Roadshow?
Just noticed on the Complex blog that there are actually two covers for this month's issue. This one doesn't seem quite as racy at a first glance, but then you realise that Cassie is wearing a crotch-skimming minidress and has a banana placed strategically between her legs.
Subtle. Reeeeal subtle.
