Im in "G" shock

So I'm a fan of the G shock. I remember being in school and my games teacher Mr Wilson having a chunky watch that did the countdown, acted as our stop watch for football and molested three dinner ladies too.

So when the popularity of those Casio bad boys went through the roof post Bape collabo's and of course the Kanye West Complex, AND XXL magazine covers i felt a little annoyed that something so sports freak/geeky/teacher/Japan/London had suddenly been taken mainstream.

such is life...

The question is...have we just been taken a little too far down the ignorant "ICE OUT EVERYTHING" attitude of hip hop?

Responsibility falls on the head of Mr Gold Blackberry himself Pharrell.
Its expression, i get it. But when does self expression become just ugly.
Truth be told, I'm way more into the new Hundreds x XLARGE collaboration
due out soon...

Is there any difference between how i feel and the snobs in Gucci that turn up their noses when i swagger in?

Am i an elitist snob who hates the fact Chris brown is now wearing Gshocks or is that just the way it goes with anything hot?

Eventually Nelly WILL own one.

Deal with it!

Its the way it goes unfortunatley when somethin' that you've been rockin' that the 'mainstream' doesn't care about finally gets some exposure and everyone gets into it just for the sake of it, it always takes away a bit of the edge and how you originally felt about it.I don't think your a snob either for how you feel about certain people wearin' stuff you've rocked for ages.

In a way that's why I hate the digital age (this will make me sound old!lol) when that grew everyone and their mother became a DJ because its easy to get some cd decks or MP3's and burn your stuff off the net and all of a sudden your a DJ. Growing up I saved up got my 1210's and blew all my money on imported 12"s that no one would hear for month and practice, now everyone knows it before it hits the streets. The other night I was watching Mtv and Caprice is on there with her 'crib' and she's like this is my DJ partner'we're just comin up with a new set.what does she know about DJing!!

Sorry rant over!! Hundreds watch is dope goin' to be coppin one!

First of all Biz...GOOD POST!

I dont think you can be considered a 'snob' for being frustrated that something that you have supported and rocked for ages, is now way too popular. Its sort of like when you find a band or an artist and they BLOW UP. It takes 'the cool' off of the thing you have been supporting, wearing or whatever before it was mainstream and popular.

Anyway Take the casio off now, and start a new style.

Anyone fancy bringing friendship bands back? They were sick. (they dont tell the time tho)

Baby G... the good old days!
But I had a fake one how sad is that?(childhood trauma!LOL)
And Biz I know how you feel, remember the Von Dutch era???
When I got Von Dutch I didn't even wanted to wear it because everyone had it already...
I'm the kind of girl that moves on when it gets mainstream, gotta stay original!

Maybe I'm not the sharpest tool in the box but I always assumed that most things became passé once they went mainstream - ergo it is the job of the taste-makers of the world to discard the old then move on to something new, no? I think the frustration whilst understandable has to come with the territory... And to honest I think maybe to feel "a way" about something is a little unfair, after all nothing is truly original now is it!? Please correct me if I'm wrong...

Regarding one's DJing comments you forget one very important thing my friend - regardless of what you do DJing/Music/Art/Design/whatever if you're good, you're good and eventually you WILL be recognised as such (whether you live in the digital age or not). The bluffers ALWAYS get shown for what they are eventually!
