Faux Pas?

Scared that God may strike me down for wanting to rub my face on the shearling Mongolian lamb fur which had been dyed in purple and came with an over sized hood. Forgive me for trying to justify the £625 . Fashion keeps me under it's foot like the slave I am. But it's shearling. That's okay right? I mean the animal has been "sheared" so therefore I should not have the fear of God put in me while I danced around the shop with it on. I am a sucker for colour and weather it's in plastic, leather, plaid, or fur I just want. But I do have some hidden pieces in my drobe (I do some good, I do some bad) I became apprehensive when someone gave me a lilac fur shawl and when I wrapped it around my neck the bloodly claws scratched me. I screamed and threw it.

Mortified.

Can we wear fur with a clear conscience? After the nineties anti fur campaigns left the fashion industry walking away with their tails between their legs. Fur was out. After various celebrities and style icons proclaiming they would rather go naked than wear fur. But the past few years fur has crawled back, it never really effected the hip hop industry After all celebrities like Diddy, Cam'ron and Outkast are renowned for their coloured over the top floor lengths.

In Britain I find we are less forgiving when it comes to this. As one of my friends was very near to being attacked in Oxford Street from Peta. (sly cackle) When I asked a colleague what their take was on fur, as usual completely undecided and confused. She saw the function of it justifiable that it keeps you warm but could not deal with the guilt. So what do we think about Old (vintage) fur? Is this still as bad? Some people see vintage as an ethical choice: a guilt-free, pro-animal rights, pro-environmental way of wearing fur. Mmm? Not sure about that one.

So if you do not support the act of killing an animal for fur now, then it's okay for you to wear vintage fur?

Completely undecided on this one. What do you think Tribers/ Readers?

I remember my 1st ever fur purchase. My 2nd year in St. Ma's, back when the origional'Beyond Retro,'Cheshire street was mine & my sisters secrect vintage haunt. She pick'd up this fabulous 1ofakind rabbit jacket insisting I 'grip it' Costing me only 30quid that jacket has been the envy of many!If it could talk it would share tales of the jeanPG show in Paris, striding down 7th ave on intern errands for DVF, and that loft party in Williamsberg where I refused to check it 'cause of light-fingered drag-queens eyein it up!lol
I don't feel anymore guilty wearing my furs than I enjoy eating my mums oxtail!lol

FUR FOREVER,
love Cruella x
