WTF! Skepta aint a hip hop act is he?
Giggs all day
dizzee gna win but allow that listbashy should blatanly be on there
Best UK Hip Hop Act Nomineeswhaaaat.....why do they have this category at these awards?!? Nobody cares! None of the stars there (apart from Estelle) will know who these guys are.I can just see 50, T.I, Jigga and Snoop doing the rolex sweep down the red carpet.......
It does'nt matter if the stars know them or not, what matters most is the exposure they get w/ the viewers. But I agree, on the strength of the Black Boys single you would think BET would include Bashy.Nonetheless I put mut vote behind Wiley.
Estelle should of been nominated surely? She is from a hip-hop background and has achieved the most this year by far. This award is rightfully hers. End of.
Dizzy Diz to win.
even though...i would really like to see Ghetto win.
OIIIIII NAAAAAAA WHERES BASHY?Dizzee to win I suppose. But I'm supporting Giggs.
ParadigmShift302I don't think the US audience pays much attention to UK 'urban' artists unless they are attached to a US megastar e.g Leona Lewis and Simon Cowell, Estelle and Kanye West.Didn't Sway win the award back in 2006? It'd be interesting to hear from him if it has impacted his career in anyway.
Ryan Giggs All Day!!!!
@ Brazen - I agree with you regarding the US audiences stance on UK urban acts but I think to say that Leona is seen as an urban act in the US is more than stretching the point; she's a pop act plain and simple. Keyshia Cole is seen as "urban", as is some-one like Fantasia, it's only in the UK the she's seen in that light.Generally speaking, the response I normally get from Americans regarding UK hiphop acts is "I can't understand what they say!", however some of the "cooler" cats I've met are really digging MIA for some unfathomable reason...
Only Giggs is Hip hop on that list. Shows total ignorance of BET
Ghetto on the strength of 'Freedom of Speech'. One of the best and most coherent UK hip hop albums ever.
ClavI was waiting for someone to pull me up on that!!!! I was using the term 'urban' loosely, I don't even like using that bloody word lolI am a fan of M.I.A and proud!
But its true though. I think people do see some artists as "urban" simply for the fact that they are black. I know it may be deemed as controversial, but if you ask a middle aged daily mail reader if they see Estelle as a pop or urban artist, 9 times out of 10 it will be the latter.
Dizzee Diz has it in the bag.p.s i am so naked now, it's giving me a headache.
Bit of a shame that akala, kano and k-lash aren't getting any recognition overseas. This is still one of the best freestyles ive ever seen http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=8vv_v-XMfQE
that's useful - a best uk hip hop category full of grime artists. stuff like that annoys THE SHIT OUT OF ME, fuck sake. so damn ignorant! what is the point???hi liam! lol
No sway? No bashy?... thats a bit deep still.
How dare these yanks call skepta wiley and dizzee hip hop acts
Thb, all of those acts but one openly admits to making grime.Only one there that reps uk HIP HOP is Giggs.Giggs for the epic win.
They finally got it right and actually put some credible people that is a decent representation of what UK Hop hop, Grime (what u call you it?) talent is made ofgiggs had the door closed on him with previous mixtapes and now he does one tune with a catch lyric and you all jumping on his dick.... or is it his charlie??
