Wasn't gonna roll as I thought it was going to be a weak imitation of U.S., however, after reading your post Magdi--I'M THERE!

Quick question: Since 1992's 'Dream Team' which country or countries haave won the Basketball in the Olympics in '96, '00 and '04? Has it been the U.S. everytime?

Think they only won bronze in the last olympics. Argentina won it

what people dont understand... is that its not the americans getting worse... its the rest of the world getting better....

Thats why TEAM USA were underestimating the competition... Lets see what happens this year... USA needs to step their game up big time...

Good point Magdi, but are you honestly saying that China or Spain or Argentina or any of the other countries are touching the U.S.? I don't follow the NBA as much as you probably do, but how many non-American players are really making noise for the big teams. I doubt it's anything like, say, the Premier League where foreign talent runs shit. My view, and of course correct me if I'm wrong, is that no matter how good the rest of the world may get, America will still run basketball for the forseeable future. At least until 2022 or some shit? Agree/disagree?

@Anon like Magdi says other teams are getting stronger and there are top forgien guys in the NBA, i.e Ginobli at San Antiono, Niccoli at the Bulls,etc.. In terms of individual talent the US are streets ahead but does individual talent make a team? e.g. Real Madrid when they tried to sign all the worlds best players put them in one team and they won nothing!!

I watched the US against China the other day and once they got going they outclassed the Chinese but if the US get complacent and take it for granted their going to win it easy there are other teams that can beat them and the thing is because they have been beaten by other teams in the past theres no aura about them and other won't fear them!!

What other team can beat the U.S.? We killed China on their home turf. Do you think that they'll ever be a time when the U.S. will NOT be the dominating force in Basketball? You're kidding yourself if you think anyone else is gonna outdo us. Give me just 5 players OUTSIDE the U.S. that are better than the best 5 American players. You can't.

Im not saying that the US havent got the strongest team in the world... Im just saying that the rest of the world is catching up.... Might be a while before it actually happens but look at the NBA... If you went back to say 96 which is 12 years ago... Where in the NBA would you find SO many international players as you find today? Tony Parker, Yao Ming, our own Luol Deng, and so on... There are a lot of international talent that is coming up....

What also doesnt help is that the NBA teams are so scared about getting their star players injured that they either dont allow the players to play or if they do... they will limit their court time....

For example... " Carmelo can play in the games... but only to play 12-14 mins..."

They are worth way too much money.... they cannot afford to risk injuring themselves as they want to get back to the season and win the league... Thats the ultimate goal... not the olympics...
