Is this is an example of media pressure
going too far??? Also is the media generating a climate of fear to generate news and subsequently increase sales or is it a genuine attempt to report the truth?
Apparently Nike UK have withdrawn the Nike Air Stab from distribution within its own stores and possibly the UK due to the apparent recent rise in knife crimes.
Lobby groups such as 'Crimestoppers' have chastised Nike for irresponsibly marketing a product with such a name especially in the current climate.
FYI (the nerd biz) the term 'Stab' comes from the stabilising footbridge technology that the shoe provided when the shoe was first released back in 1990.
I for one think this is ridiculous and a worrying trend. A perfect example of the typical reactionary, knee jerk behaviour that people sometimes jump on, whilst completely missing the point and trying to justify their supposed benevolent sense of purpose. Hysteria in full effect!
What's next on the menu? The burning of books and films etc. that depict murders by the way of knives?

they shldnt have put it on shelves in the first place.. they look kinda wack.
but yeah its political correctness gone too far once again!!
someone stop me for wearing them and told me for my opinion on knife crime! loosers
The problem is so massive that people are looking for anything they can do to stop it.
This is a weird step but be warned music, film, TV, computer games, the internet, social networking are all next.
Good, there horrible fuckers anyway.
You know what would stop knife crime?
Guns
can't they just change the name??
Do you realise how much these are gonna be worth when they're no longer on the shelves? lol
nice point clav...
read 'shoplift'
i have a few pairs of stabs and i love them. true, they do look ugly on that picture... i like to pretend they look better on though.
Like everybody with any sense, Im all for ending knife crime. Will this make any difference whatsoever, NO i doubt it very much.
Its absolutely ridiculous!
but at the same time, you can't really argue with the reasoning behind it...
don't know about you, but i don't often follow the subliminal messages (of which there are obviously many) given to me by my footwear.
this will obviously not only prevent any future knife attacks, but bring anyone back to life who has been killed by a trainer.
this country would be funny if we didn't all live here.
@ yeahisaidit - Bless you, I really do feel it for ya cos I don't live here anymore...
What gets me is that if indeed the word 'Stab' in Air Stab is actually short for 'Stability' as Biz says then it's a total madness as far as I'm concerned.
STOOOOOOOOOOOPIDNESS!
BIG UP BORIS THE PRICK!
thats WHACK
