The Littlest Hustler

At the tender age of 13, Leanna Archer already boasts a CV more impressive than most people twice her age. She started her own natural haircare range at the age of nine, works as a motivational speaker across the US and yesterday became the youngest person ever to ring the NASDAQ opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange. She has also been nominated (alongside my not-so-secret love, Bobby Hundreds) in Inc.Com's 'Top 30 Entrepreneurs Under 30'.

Stories like this one, amazing as they are, slightly bemuse me. When I was 13 my Saturdays were spent in Claire's Accessories and my greatest accomplishment was Grade 4 Piano (with merit). Why was I not out there starting up my own company and being a child prodigy? Even as I near the ripe old age of 21, I still have very little idea of what I want to do with my life, let alone the the acumen to establish a profitable and successful business. Which leads me to wonder- Is the art of the hustle something you learn, or something you're born with?

Its not something you are born with. It is an environmental factor rather then a genetic trait. Its not instinct. Instincts are unlearned responses to stimuli. You are not taught as such how to have sex, but rather are programmed with the instructions to with the formation of the brain. such is an example of an instinct.
