Man On Wire: The most beautiful suicide.

A very morbid post... sorry! but this film has changed my life. Now I know ANYTHING is possible. Man On Wire is a documentary that shows the story of a french tightrope walker called Philippe Petit and his six year mission to dance across a wire between the Twin Towers in 1974.

Has anybody seen this?

If you haven't, check out the trailer below! I am scared of heights and I actually felt sick whilst viewing the film.

During the film, I couldn't help but think of this famous photograph (below) of Evelyn McHale who lept to her death from a viewing balcony on the Empire State Building in 1947. Photographer Robert Wiles took a photo of McHale only a few minutes after her death. The calmness of McHale's body amidst the crumpled wreckage her fall caused is remarkable. Many years later, Andy Warhol appropriated Wiles' photography for a print called 'Suicide (Fallen Body)'. Deeeep.

Silence...

Celebrity Morgue... wow. Check out the autopsy pics of JF Kennedy. damn. everytime Obama comes on TV, JFK springs to mind... slightly worried. hope he doesnt get assassinated by those men in bed sheets!

@She Nang & Pheebs - yep. a truly powerful image. She died on May Day, just after leaving her fiancé, Evelyn McHale wrote a note. 'He is much better off without me ... I wouldn't make a good wife for anybody,' ... Then she crossed it out.

Then she jumped. In her desperate determination she lept and hit a United Nations limousine parked at the curb. Photography student Robert Wiles was across the street and heard an explosive crash. Ran over and took this amazing pic.

wow. amazing shot. did he tamper with her body though? her body positioning doesn't look natural for a fall AT ALL.
Her fiance must've felt like shit, and to have that moment immortalized!- sucks for him.
I've never seen this shot before, but it makes me think of one of Frieda's paintings- she commisioned to do a portrait of a girl who had killed herself, and she did a portrait of the girl in the jumping (and pre and post jump) off a building. U probably know the one, but yeah, profound.
Oh, and I always say, I hope Obama has some top notch body guards

you and specks are the only ones who dont post garbage celebrity posts about kanye west, pamela etc. who cares about that shit?! id pick up heat magazine if i wanted to know.

those other ATCN members better step their game up! the quality level is slipping. please take note. dont post things similar to what other blogs post.

ps. GK stop looking at Kanye Wests blog for inspiration. everytime kanye posts something half decent, you post the exactly same thing the next day.

when was this big brother? Its not a contest on the best it's a blog

Anon-
Why the animosity? ATCN's appeal is that it is very eclectic and random in it's nature- art, fashion, events, politics, gossip. I like it. When I go to other sites, a political site, per se, they are churning out the same shit day in and day out, just to have something to write about.
Mix it up a little.
Shit, just because someone likes to have fun and think about lighter things sometimes, it doesn't mean that they are slow or uncultured.

Oh, and while we are speaking of "uncultured", props to someone who can admit that they weren't already in the know about EVERY DAMN THING. I fucking hate pretentious ass ppl who act like they were the first to do and/or hear about everything, usually fronting. I like to kick back and just let them expose themselves, then laugh. All things come to light...

Firstly, big post dels, i like disturbing arty stuff.

And @ anon. I will answer your comments so sit back and read ...

1.) Pamela Anderson and Michael Jackson wasn't put up there for the 'celeb gossip' as such, more that it was REALLY FUCKING CRAZY! My personality isn't one to post up serious art posts all the time, thats why we have so many different 'writer' on the blog, all to input different our different tastes and styles.

2.) I posted a Lupe video yesterday which Kanye west also posted? Alot of blogs post the similar things when something big happens in the scene and may be of interest. Just because someone else has posted it doesn't mean anyone else is banned from also posting it.

3.) Get a sign on. Innit.
