A couple of weeks back I went to the opening of 'Ryantown', a new shop on Columbia Road where you can purchase all manner of lovely things by artist Rob Ryan.
If you haven't heard of Rob Ryan, there's a good chance you've seen some of his work. He utitlises a pretty unique method of cutting detailed shapes, patterns and lettering out of very delicate paper. The resulting pieces are either left as they are, or used to create screenprints.
Having seen his work close up, I have to say that the sheer intricacy of it is breathtaking. I also really like that Ryan has reappropriated his style in a whole host of ways, creating a markedly different result for every commission:

To learn more about Rob, check out his website or visit his shop on Columbia Road (if you're in an extremely girly mood, you might want to go on a Sunday whilst the flower market is on. Aaaaahh! Lovely!!)
