The Best TV series ever made???

It's reached the fifth and final season... if you're not already on board [which must be a highly unlikely scenario], i'm kind of jealous that anybody who hasn't seen it will have the joy of discovering The Wire a new, to enjoy hours and hours of absolute viewing pleasure. For me, its one of those shows you just don't want to ever end, a bit like when you were 14 and Friends ended, but looking back, that really wasn't so emotional after all. With the conclusion of The Wire, I might still be mourning the end of a great show in years to come...

So the big question...
Taking cue from an article in todays observer, I pose the question...
Is The Wire really the best TV series ever to be made?

I think its up there...

And so, if by some chance you've missed out on this so far, come over to the dark side, we're all waiting...

As much as i would love to agree with you... i cant...

LOST is the best show on tv EVER!!!

but i will watch the wire when lost is over...

I will remind you all when you actually realise that LOST IS THE TRUTH!!!!! lol

i gave up on lost a while back... i did actually quite like it at first. so, i blame my giving up on the fact that far too many ridiculous and strange things kept happening.

you miss one episode of that show and you can't go back...

Honest, if you don't know about the wire, get into it!!

I'm no Lost fan, so The Wire comes easily no.1 show.

It's Brilliant, & you guys should check out The Corner after.

magdi i cant see why your laughing
it pretty evident your not a fan of superman in his early years but you just confirmed its undeniable success.

Yes, there have been a number of seasons 7 to be exact, not quite your '43' but that's just down to its cult following, you'd be pleasantly surprised its actually a very good programme, especially if your a die hard DC head like myself, there are so many guest appearances of old school DC heroes it mouth watering.

Now look at the juxtaposition between smallville and the bionic woman... The bionic woman was pulled of air after a measly 5 or 6 EPISODES because it was atrociously wank where as smallville is in its 7th season (each season consists of 22 episodes) you do the maths mate.

I know i might be getting abit over excitable and could easily be writing the longest dissertation in ATCN history but i just don't take kindly to you dismissing me with a "hahahahahaha, shisssssssh" I know your much more open minded than that bro.

specks Knows what he’s talking about for me the wire is the best show i have ever seen and probably ever going to. It’s the only show that can make you like so many characters and take an interest in there journeys throughout the seasons.

i notice some people talking about LOST i did like it until i figured out that the show itself is LOST the writers are having a field day with you all.

wow a fellow smallville fan?? I feel a bit like an outlaw out there watching episodes on my own!

I too am 154 episodes deep and i claim that the show is good but it really isn't a classic and I am a massive DC fan from day (infact let me put it out there that I'm one of the few people ever to have read every issue of Superman from 1938 - 1994)

but if pushed on the best show all of time I have to the Sopranos.

I want to say the West Wing but the kidnap story and CJ's secret agent love affair killed that show dead.

LOST >>>>>>>>>>> Heroes >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Smallville & anything on TV

Sorry guys.

Jeremy Bentham has it on Lock(e)!(get it magdi, i thought that was smart.)

You can't beat Ben aswell, great bad guy, and an amazing actor.

Props to Syler in Heroes, also a great bad guy right?

The Wire, in my opinion is definitely one of the best. Ive seen the seasons 1-5 already(too impatient to wait for FX channel), and its the ONLY tv series dvd ive ever bought. THATS HOW GOOD I THOUGHT IT WAS!!

THE SHOW IS BIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGG!!!!!

SOPRANOS is the truth, if ever there was a series to rep to the fullest it has gotta be the sopranos.

Tony knew how to keep that cash flowing and keep the family in line!

The Sopranos is/was THE SHIT! Possibly the best TV series of all time.

Also, who remembers 'Murder One' from 1996? Used to roll on BBC2. That was interesting too.

The link got cut. Hope it comes through in full this time.

I'm just gonna go ahead and say that I have not watched one episode of The Wire and it was/is on here (SA) at the moment. I think they are like 3 seasons in. It's too late for me to catch up :(

As for Lost: they had me going for a while, but then they lost me(excuse the pun). I think I stopped paying attention when Desmond (I think that's his name) wound up back on the Island AAARRRRGGHHH!!!

Cheers,

After watching The Wire you can't really take any other TV shows seriously... they all seem really, really shit. So it kind of ruins TV. But you go out on a high.

(also enjoying Deadwood and Mad Men)

Allow all The Wire hypebeasts,

If you haven't seen The Shield, then you simply don't know!

Mags, 'Murder One' was iller than an AIDS patient with leprosy. Every line that the bald-headed lawyer uttered was a quotable.

Anyhow, check this, people.
