Harriet Tubman
1820-1913
1820-1913
Harriet Tubman guided hundreds of slaves to freedom before and during the war, by travelling at night better known as the Underground Railway. She was never captured while rescuing slaves and as she was quoted " When I found I had crossed that line, I looked at my hands to see if I was the same person. There was such a glory over everything; the sun came like gold through the trees, and over the fields, and I felt like I was in Heaven"
Tubman is one of the most poignant historic figures in black history
